About the Strike

Tube and Underground Services Affected

RMT union members are taking strike action from Monday 20 to Friday 24 April 2026, which is expected to cause significant disruption across the London Underground network throughout the week. Services may be severely limited or suspended on many lines. Overground, Elizabeth line, DLR, National Rail, and bus services are expected to run as normal and are your best alternatives.

Alternative Travel Options

Recommended

Elizabeth Line

Bond Street station is a short walk from Grosvenor House (approx. 10 min). The Elizabeth line is not affected by the tube strike and is the most reliable rail option into central London.

Bus

London Buses

Bus services will run as normal and are a reliable alternative. Routes 2, 10, 16, 36, 82, 137, 148, 414 all serve Park Lane or Marble Arch. Expect higher demand and allow extra journey time.

National Rail

National Rail and Overground

National Rail services are unaffected. Paddington, Victoria, and Waterloo stations all have good bus/cab connections to Mayfair. London Overground is also unaffected.

Taxi / Rideshare

Black Cab, Uber and Rideshare

Black cabs and rideshare apps (Uber, Bolt, FREE NOW) are reliable, though demand will be high on strike days. Book rideshares in advance where possible, especially for the return journey.

Cycling

E-bikes and Santander Cycles

Several dockless e-bike schemes operate across central London, including Lime and Forest - all available via their respective apps. Santander Cycles docking stations are also located around Hyde Park and Mayfair. Walking from Oxford Street is approx. 15-20 minutes.

  • Allow at least an additional 45-60 minutes travel time on top of your usual journey
  • Use Google Maps or Trainline to find real-time routes avoiding the tube
  • If sharing a taxi, co-ordinate with colleagues travelling from the same area to split costs
