Victoria O’Loughlin is the assistant director of nursing for R&I at the Northern Care Alliance (NCA) NHS Foundation Trust and has been in post since 2018. Victoria started her career in research at Salford in 2011 as a band 5 research nurse, before becoming team leader for the Hyper-acute Stroke Research Centre and then research delivery lead for Salford Royal, later expanding her role to cover all NCA hospital and community services.
She is accountable for and oversees research delivery across the NCA, ensuring research is carried out at the highest possible standards for the benefit of patients, to time and target, and within the required regulatory framework.
Victoria was awarded the Chief Nursing Officer Silver Award for her work during the Covid pandemic, when she led and supported research staff on key public health trials and the testing of a number of Covid vaccines.
Victoria is also the operational lead for the Manchester Clinical Research Facility at Salford, one of four CRFs across Greater Manchester. The CRF explores novel ways to drive efficiencies and maximize the impact of research across the region to deliver more experimental medicine studies. It also works to increase the accessibility of research for local people of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds.
