Ruth Northway is Professor of Learning Disability Nursing at the University of South Wales. She has over thirty years experience of working in nurse education and has taught across a range of courses at both pre and post registration levels. Her current role includes undergraduate teaching alongside research and researcher development. Her particular areas of interest include the health and well-being of people with learning disabilities and working with people with learning disabilities to plan and undertake research. She has published widely in relation to each of these areas. In 2018 she was awarded the Nursing Times Lifetime Achievement Award
