Candice is an experienced District Nurse with the Specialist Practitioner Qualification in District Nursing and holds the Practice Educator and Independent Nurse Prescribing qualifications. Candice became a Queen’s Nurse when the title was re-introduced in 2007 by The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI) and she has been very involved in contributing to national policy documents over the past sixteen years. Examples of her work include membership of the Transforming Community Services Board at the Department of Health, secondment as Clinical Lead (Nursing) on the Transforming Community Services Programme, a member of the Prime Minister’s Nursing and Care Quality Forum and a member of various Clinical Nursing Advisory Groups. She has also worked on secondment with the University of Nottingham as a Practitioner/ Lecturer on the pre-registration nursing programme. In 2014 Candice was awarded the OBE for “Services to Nursing and Healthcare” and was very humbled to receive this at an investiture at Buckingham Palace from her Majesty the Queen. Also that year she was awarded The Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Award for Outstanding Service by the QNI. In 2016 she was awarded an Honorary Doctorate for Science in recognition of "Outstanding Services to Nursing". Candice worked with the QNI London, as a Transition Project Manager and undertook a two year project funded by The Burdett Trust for Nursing, working on a Young People’s Transition of Care project that focussed on empowering community clinicians to support young people transitioning from Children’s Services to Adult Community Services. Candice is a member of the Burdett National Transition Nursing Network Advisory Group and represents Community Nursing within the group.
