Shellie is a Clinical Academic IBD Nurse specialist working at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS trust. She is also undertaking her PhD in Gastroenterology at the University of Nottingham. Shellie is Responsible for the direct frontline care of patients living with IBD in Nottingham, and is part of the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre managing clinical research studies investigating better ways to treat IBD and understand the impact of IBD on the lives of patients. Shellie has a background in intensive care and research Nursing, and has completed her PG Certificate in Gastroenterology and a Masters by Research looking into the experiences of patients living with IBD Fatigue. Shellie is the IBD and Research Nurse representative of the British Society of Gastroenterology Nurses association. Shellie is passionate about Nurse led research and providing high quality clinical research opportunities for patients and participants, to support the development and delivery of gastroenterology and IBD care. Shellie supports other healthcare students, Nurses, Midwives and AHPs to get more involved in clinical research, as well as providing placement and learning experiences about the role of clinical research and its relation to evidence based practice. Shellie was the Winner of the "Post-Registration Learner" category at the Student Nursing Times in 2021.
