Hazel is programme lead for the Professional Doctorate in Health and Social Care at the University of Chester and Postgraduate Tutor. Her research interests include the service user experience in adult, learning disabilities and mental health fields; equality of access to health and social care; respect, empathy and compassion in care and the professional – service user interaction. Her nursing practice included: care of adults with intellectual disabilities and "challenging behaviour" and health care support for people with intellectual disabilities; fracture healing research; and emergency nursing. Hazel is a qualified RGN & RN(LD) & RNT, with a Degree in Psychology, a Master’s in Education and a Doctorate in Health Consultation Experiences for People with Learning Disabilities. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society.
