Since qualifying as a Learning Disabilities Nurse, Anna has undertaken an internship within the Emergency Care Research Team at UWE Bristol. She then commenced her clinical career on the Learning Disability and Autism ward in medium-secure forensic hospital. Anna is part of the Avon and Wiltshire Positive Behaviour Support network and steering group and is extremely passionate about reducing health inequalities and ensuring healthcare and research is accessible to all. Another of her main interests is effective interdisciplinary, collaborative working particularly between the health and social care sectors. Whilst a student Anna threw herself into every possible opportunity. This included voluntary work in a special needs school in South Africa, completing the Council of Deans Student Leadership Programme as well as work alongside an Occupational Therapy colleague to create a virtual event for college students promoting lesser-known healthcare professions. Anna won student Learning Disabilities Nurse of the year in 2021 and is honoured to be on the judging panel this year.
