Lynne Marsh is a Registered Nurse in Learning Disabilities and completed her Doctor of Nursing in 2014. Lynne joined the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Queen's University Belfast, Northern Ireland as Senior Lecturer in 2017 and in this senior role, she holds responsibility for the BSc Learning Disabilities Nursing education. She is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
With over thirty years of clinical experience in a diverse range of clinical practice settings and third level education, Lynne possesses key knowledge, skills and expertise on the health and wider education and social care needs of people with learning disabilities and their families. Throughout her teaching, she encourages student learners to embrace person-centred and family centred care to improve the lives of people with learning disabilities and their families across the lifespan.
Lynne continues to publish her research in key peer-reviewed nursing and intellectual disability research journals on topics including health research, fathers and families’ research, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on family carers, and relationships sexuality and friendships with people with intellectual disabilities. She embeds research in her undergraduate and post graduate teaching and disseminates her research at local and international conferences.
