We at Birmingham City University, recognise the challenges and barriers that both Trainee Nursing Associates and Registered Nursing Associates face, with identifying opportunities for Continual Professional Development (CPD). We proudly hosted our first National Nursing Associate Conference in September 2023. This was a pioneering event for Higher Education Institutions and the industry. In recognition that becoming the 'Nursing Associate Training Programme Provider of the Year', we appreciate that training continues beyond registration. The conference has provided the workforce with invaluable CPD opportunities.

The nursing associate programme at Kingston university projects excellence in higher education while inspiring students to become the workforce of the future. Innovations include the delivery of immersive simulation weeks with focus on all four fields of nursing, collaborative work with local service users to deliver their lived healthcare experience and embedding delivery of Future Skills for forward development and career planning. Strong relationships with practice partners and students continues to be a driving force behind the successful delivery of this robust programme and helps it continue to grow and evolve in line with healthcare developments.

Solent University

Solent University should win as it has delivered successful Nursing Associate (NA) education since the inception of the role and developed expertise in meeting the needs of our learners, external partners, and the wider community. We have added over 300 high quality NA to the NMC register and our alumni have progressed into a range of clinical areas. Our teaching is uniquely tailored to the needs of learners, their employers and service users. We are innovative and we are embedded members of our local community. In addition, our learners benefit from experienced staff and a supportive educational community.

Staffordshire University

Staffordshire Universities Nursing Associate programme has successfully ran since 2018. Supported by a dedicated apprenticeship team, students gain the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to fulfil registration requirements and become a safe and effective practitioner. Simmersive education is embedded throughout the curriculum to support development whilst providing peer learning and feedback opportunities. Our excellent healthcare simulation standards led to us becoming the first University in Europe to gain INACSL endorsement in 2023. Students achieve high grade outcomes through actively participating in an engaging curriculum which recognises the importance of expert professional and service user/carer support at all stages of learning.

Teesside University

The TNA programme at Teesside University works with 70 partners to deliver a programme which equips the TNA to become a safe, accountable and knowledgeable practitioner. We currently have over 500 TNAs who are studying on the programme from backgrounds such as acute care, primary care, the private sector and also social care. The ethos of the programme is to support and nurture individuals to achieve their aspirations of becoming a qualified professional with the NMC but also to strive to be the best version that they can be within the current nursing workforce.
