Gail qualified as an RN from UCH in 1988. She then worked in hospitals until 1990 when she joined community nursing. Fiona worked as a RN, District Nurse Team Manager, and a General Practice Nurse until semi- retiring in Dec 2020. Now, Fiona works part time as a District Nurse supporting across the Community teams. Here, she is responsible for assessing the clinical and leadership skills required for student district nurses completing the specialist practitioner qualification, while also providing clinical leadership and support to the district nursing teams. She mainly supports newly qualified nurses in practice. In 2013, Fiona was honoured to be awarded the Queen’s Nursing Award. She is also an active member of the RCN DN and Community Nurse Forum Steering Group, and a QNI Leader, which has encouraged her to widen her influence and use her voice. She has recently gained the Post Graduate Certificate for Practice Education at Bucks New University and also works part time as an Associate Lecturer.
