Elizabeth believes that acting with compassion and empathy is a key aspect of person-centred mental health nursing care. She is looking for candidates who apply innovative skills in their in practice by not just showing an understanding of care, but understanding the patient’s journey and understanding the evidence-base for apply our skills and competences. As a nurse, she always looks at building good therapeutic relationships with patients, finding ways to gain their trust, and work together to plan sustainable goals, supporting people to find the capacity to heal and find purpose within themselves to go on with life. Since gaining recognition for Student Mental Health Nurse of the Year – Mental Health (2021), Elizabeth has continued to advocate for clients, understanding the barriers they face due to their mental illness and liaised with other members of the multidisciplinary team to help them get the right support in their recovery journey.
