Wendy is a Senior Teaching Fellow and Programme Director of Studies (Nursing) at the University of Surrey. Her PhD explored the longitudinal impact of an innovative dementia education program on adult nurses learning and practice. It won the Rosemary Pope award 2020 which recognises a PhD thesis that makes a significant and outstanding contribution to the study of healthcare education and practice. She has published and presented nationally on dementia education.
Her clinical nursing background includes working in acute medicine; older adult care; practice development and dementia specialist nurse. She joined the University of Surrey in 2013 to integrate dementia into the undergraduate curriculum and proactively prepare nursing students to meet the current and future needs of people with dementia. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) and believes that the best teachers inspire and motivate, igniting a student’s imagination, and instilling a love of lifelong learning.
