I have been a senior lecturer at the University of Brighton for 9 years, across both BSc undergraduate nursing programmes and postgraduate education. I came into academia after 25 years in acute/critical care. My areas of interest include critical/acute care, patient centric care, simulation, pedagogy, and practice learning. Recently, I was part of the lead project team that embedded the South Practice Assessment Document into practice across the southern region. During the Covid pandemic I have been involved with an international research project looking at the role of virtual simulation training for nursing students in recognising early deterioration. My next venture is to lead the development of practice learning, as I take up the role at the University of Chichester within its inaugural School of Nursing and Allied Health. In my spare time I love all things countryside and I am also an enthusiastic amateur artist.
