District nurse team manager, Queen’s nurse and qn leader
Hounslow and Richmond Community Heatlhcare NHS Trust
I qualified as an RN from UCH in 1988. I then worked in hospitals until 1990 when I joined community nursing. I worked as a RN, District Nurse Team Manager, and a General Practice Nurse until I semi- retired in Dec 2020.
I now work part time as a District Nurse supporting across the Community teams. I am responsible for assessing the clinical and leadership skills required for student district nurses completing the specialist practitioner qualification, while also providing clinical leadership to the district nursing teams. I am a nurse prescriber and a supervisor/ assessor for pre- registration students. I was honoured to be awarded the Queen’s Nursing Award in 2013. I am also an active member of the RCN DN and Community Nurse Forum Steering Group.
I am also a QNI Leader, which has encouraged me to widen my influence and use my voice.
I have recently started the Post Graduate Certificate for Practice Education at Bucks New University.
