Professional lead, adult nursing and associate professor learning & teaching,
University of Hertfordshire
I am Professional Lead for Adult Nursing at the University of Hertfordshire, leading a large team of academic staff responsible for BSc and MSc pre-registration nursing as well as nursing associate, advanced practice and contemporary nursing CPD programmes. I am an Associate Professor in learning and teaching with a National Teaching Fellowship, a competitive award that recognises individuals who have made an outstanding impact on student outcomes and the teaching profession. I am a Principal Lecturer in tissue viability and run wound care and leg ulcer management education. I publish mainly on tissue viability topics and have a keen interest in encouraging new writers. I have a degree in tissue viability, an MSc in nursing and I am currently finalising a doctorate with a focus on defining and measuring competence in leg ulcer management.
Outside work I am a trustee for 2 charities: Leg Ulcer Forum (past chair, journal editor and current education lead), and a UK charity supporting stoma care education in Romania (Romanian Ostomy Patients Support Foundation). I am an active member of the Beds and Herts Tissue Viability Nurses Forum.
