Professional profile: Alyson Davies, RGN, RSCN, BSc, MN, PGCE, Filed Lead/ Senior Lecturer Children and young People’s Nursing, Swansea University.
Alyson is the Field Lead and Senior Lecturer for the BSc Children’s Nursing Programme at Swansea University . Alyson is a Registered Children’s Nurse who has worked for a number of years in clinical practice and has over 20 years experience teaching children’s nursing students from pre-registration to Master’s level study. Alyson is passionate about engaging students in developing and building their knowledge of and clinical competence in children’ s nursing and the key issues affecting the health of children and families.
Clinically Alyson has worked in Children’s oncology, general medicine and surgery. Alyson’s teaching and research interests are in Children’s psychological development and understanding of health and illness, children’s pain, Children’s rights, Children’s mental health. Alyson has published widely on issues in children‘s nursing and has co -edited and contributed to a key text book, Children and young People’s Nursing: Principles for Practice.
Alyson also sits on national groups which influence Children’s Nursing policy and practice: All Wales Children and Young Peoples Senior Nurse Forum; Children and Young People’s Nurse Academics UK
